So I could really use some help decorating the master bedroom. This is the furniture set I have. Its a dark cherry finish. Which I loved 5 years ago when we purchased it, but don't prefer now. I need help with paint colors and bedding colors. This is the exact one I have.
My plan was to paint the walls burnt orange with a honey glaze and use creme and dark chocolate brown bedding. Now that I've been thinking about it, I'm not sure the orange and the cherry furniture will work together. Please Suggest away. I need the distraction.
On another note Blake had his second visit to the ER last Friday. His little big toe, became infected and I dont know why. They gave him meds and its clearing up now. While there we did the height weight thing and this little guy only weighs 22 pounds. He doesn't gain weight for nothing or eat. So any advice on that would be great also. I dint know what to do any more or what to try when it comes to him. They are days he will only eat a couple goldfish. I have asked his doctor several times and everyone medically and everyone says he will eat when he's hungry. Ok I do understand that, but the boys has only gain like 3 pounds in the last year. That doesn't sound good to me. He is in the 5% for his age now. And in the 50% for his height.

I don't know what to suggest for Blake. Sorry, but good luck.
My suggestion for the bedroom is.. if you are worried about the orange not going well with the "cherry" part of the wood..then, maybe you should try a deep red.
Nevermind. lol. I just looked at it again, and I really think a burnt orange would be pretty. You could go get a small sample of paint and paint a small part of the wall close to the wood and see what it looks like? Just a thought.
Keep me posted.
Have a good weekend!

for you room, i think your idea sounds great. the only thing i can tell you is keep playing with it til you're content. that's what i do. i'm in the process of putting stuff in my room right now. they finally finished the construction! :)
as for blake, i'm sorry to hear of the news. maybe he has a metabolic issue. try asking your doctor about that. hope that helps.

Cathy, I have this same set and I love it!! I think the burnt orange would be a great color to go with this set, and I love the thought of honey glaze. Now as far as the bedding, I think the chocolate would go nice too, but I would probably add some pillows in the burnt orange family for accent. Good luck!! Now, on to Blake...how old is he? I had that same problem with my little one and the Dr.'s told me the same thing. She's still tiny at only 34 lbs. and almost 5!! She only gained 2 lbs. since last year. :) As long as he's healthy, try not worry about it. Just keep offering him different things and he'll eventually eat. Mine still doesn't eat, but she's healthy and I've learned not to stress over it. :)
One of my family members has a set that is cherry too. The bedding is a dark color in the red family with tans in it and his walls are tan. So I think those colors will go great.
Now as far as Blake goes, I have the same problem with Angel. Its a pain, but at the same time I have to keep reminding myself that I was the same way when I was his age. I do however make sure he has at least a glass of milk if he chooses not to eat and give him some vitiams(?). So try that out.
I agree with the above comments, i really do think the Burnt orange would look great!
Cams is a tiny thing too, and I was concerned about her. the dr told me the same thing that as long as she is gaining & not losing any weight, those #'s are different for every child.
Sorry I am not more helpful :)
First of all your furniture is gorgeous! I totally love the burnt orange idea but then again orange is my favorite color:) Benjamin Moore makes these little paint samples and they are like 3 bucks. I use them all of the time when I want to paint something small but they are also awesome to put a little paint on the wall and live with it for a couple of days to see if you like it.
As for Blake, both of my children are small and always have been. My son was a major milk drinker and once we cut him back a little on that his eating really took off. The Dr. said he was probably filling up on the milk so he wouldn't eat well. For the last couple of years he has been eating me out of house and home but he is still only 49 lbs and he will be 9 in January. He is growing on his own curve. As long as Blake gains a little weight each year, I wouldn't worry too much. I know that is easier said then done though.
Can't wait to see your room:)
Alex has gone through stages where he will barely eat ANYTHING. that's why i kept him on bottles for so long because he would go days without eating anything. i gave him whole milk and juice in his bottles so he would at least get a little nutricion. i dont think its anything for you to freak about, little boys just go through growth spurts. i bet before you know it he'll start eating like a pig again. alex is already getting to the point where he eats a ton of food, lol. i know when hes a little older he's gonna turn into a typical boy and eat me out of house and home! lol. i think burnt orange would look really nice with that dark wood bedroom set! I think that's a perfect couple. i want to get new furniture for our room somday and i want my room to be a darkish brown and turqouis. maybe someday! hehe.
OMG Cathy!! that is the same EXACT bedroom suit that i have in my room, i think that it would look perfect with dark chocolate bedding & burnt orange walls... a tip from someone i know that decorates... actually my ex's mom painted her living room area burnt orange a few years ago and she did this technique with drop cloths (like the kind you lay on the floor when you paint) -- except she bought a really sheer gold shimmery paint and dipped the drop cloths in it and then after the orange dried, she did this cool looking effect w/ the drop cloths on the walls, basically she just covered the drop cloths with the paint and then laid them against the wall & pulled away.. the wrinkles from the drop cloths left the gold paint over the orange in kind of a marbley effect that looked super cool!! i think you could achieve the same or similar with a sponge, though, not sure, but i think it would be neat with the brown/orange color combo!! good luck with the decor!!!!! can't wait to see how it turns out :)
glad you are getting all moved in and hope you will come back to the scrappy world really soon! sorry to hear about Blake :( i hope things are getting better for him, poor little guy!!!
PS -- the tree i used on my page was actually one i made myself from a pattern that i found in a Scrapbooks Etc from a few months ago, i could scan it and send it to you if you want!!
Hey, I just remember that(lacking some brain cells here..lol) My livingroom is actually Orange with touches of red for accents. Our tv center is a dark cherry color. As far as our livingroom set, we are looking for a new one, since Black isnt looking so well in there. Now for the effect that Shaunna was talking about above. We have the effect she is talking about on our walls. The family we bought the house from used a rag to get the effect. I didnt like it at first, but it grew on me.
i was meaning to ask, where'd you get that set? it looks great!
also, i dont mind store bought card. if you still want to play, just email me your info.
hugs,
sarah.
thank you about my scrapbook page and coat! :) I got it at forever 21 this weekend!
thanx so much for adding me to your blog list!!!! we happen to have cherry wood furniture with orange bedding and i'm LOVIN' it! have you tried letting blake feed himself? just put something in a bowl and let 'em at it. there are certain things kea won't eat from me, but he'll eat if he can handle them himself...go figure!
We didnt go out into the madness on black friday. Kids were too sick.
